Hervey Bay is a beautiful seaside city that has attracted holiday makers for over a century. It has plenty to offer for just about everyone, on the water and on the land. Hervey Bay is best known as being the whale watching capital of the world, and is also home to world heritage listed K’Gari Fraser Island.

WHALE WATCHING

Whale watching tours begin in July and continue through to the end of October. Take a relaxing cruise on the mostly tranquil waters of Platypus Bay on the west coast of Fraser Island with your choice of charter company and view the majestic humpback whales as they frolic in our beautiful waters before heading back to the Antarctic for their summer feeding frenzy.

K’GARI FRASER ISLAND

Book a tour with our friendly office staff or simply catch the barge across to King Fisher Bay Resort and enjoy a day out on Australia’s largest sand island. Day tours will show you through the magnificent natural rainforests, fresh water streams and lakes and all of the sites to see along 75 mile beach on the east coast. Take a day trip to Kingfisher Bay Resort and take a relaxing walk along the beach or simple enjoy all of the facilities that the resort has to offer.

WETSIDE WATER PARK

Only a few kilometres from the Lazy Acres Caravan Park is WetSide Water Park, a fun, family friendly attraction designed with something for everyone. The park is built on 384 piers sunk deep into the sand to raise the traffic areas on boardwalks, preserving the dune structure beneath and allowing native plants to flourish. WetSide is supplied with recycled rainwater harvested from the city’s stormwater network.

The water park features hundreds of spouts and jets, fountains interactive play equipment, water slides, surfing, special play area for under-5’s called TotSide, tipping buckets, music and a giant water screen. The site also includes a coffee shop, viewing decks and boardwalks, educational displays, amenities blocks and the pay-per-use Board Rider wave machine.

URANGAN PIER

Take a leisurely stroll along the 800 meter long pier at Urangan, enjoying the ocean views and the sweeping vista of the Hervey Bay beach front or take your fishing gear out with you and see what the catch of the day may be. The Urangan Pier is a must see attraction during your stay at Lazy Acres Caravan Park and the water next to the pier is one of the Bay’s best locations for windsurfing or kite surfing with surfing conditions suitable for beginners to experts.
